1950s Hollywood in 2025

In 1957 photographer Earl Leaf shot several photographs of actress Joan Bradshaw around the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine Street in Hollywood and I just loved them.

I loved them so much I thought it would be fun to try to recreate the photos.

The idea for this series was to do a contemporary version of his 1957 photos, recreating the look and feel while shooting as close to the same locations as possible. It was not my intent on replicating the photos exactly as I knew that would be impossible even if I wanted to. Capturing the same feel of Leaf’s photos was the goal.

The project was shot and edited in August and September of 2025 and features the model Nefertara Ozella and styling by Lorraine DuRocher.

For gallery exhibitions, I put my four images above together side-by-side to create a panoramic version. It’s been in the group exhibitions, Open L.A. 2026 at the TAG Gallery in Los Angeles and the upcoming Hollywood 2026 at The Lab on Santa Fe gallery in Denver.

In the Monochrome Awards 2026, it won an Honorable Mention in the Fashion & Beauty category.
