When you order a Stepford Wife you expect certain standards will be met. Quality you can count on.
They’re supposed to be subservient, obsessively focused on domestic duties and physical appearances and lacking of independent thought or ambition.
Unfortunately, sometimes you get a lemon and there’s no customer support number to call to speak with a real human. No refunds or returns.
I’m fascinated by facades. Fakeness. Plastic. Everyone wears a different mask that changes depending upon who they’re with. Growing up in Michigan suburbia I’m quite familiar with this. I love satirizing conventions and conformity.
The two models, Austyn Vovos and Gleveen Octavia were great to work with. We kicked around a lot of ideas regarding wardrobe and location and settled on hitting the vintage shops on Magnolia Blvd in Burbank and found some 1950s/60s pieces.
